It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Victoria (Vicki) Malden on September 4, 2020.

Vicki was born in Wilcox, SK, in 1949 to Frank & Marjorie Germann. She was the oldest daughter to what would ultimately become a family of 10 children.

In 1970, Vicki met Dale. Two years later, they were married. The two were the ultimate team as they built their life together and showed everyone what true love was (and what it required). They spent several years in Regina prior to moving to Prince Albert in 1976 where Dale began his teaching career. After the two started their own family in 1979, Vicki operated a daycare from the home, taught piano, and worked within the community.

In 1989, Vicki and family moved to Melfort. For over 30 years, Vicki taught and inspired young children to love music through the Music for Young Children (MYC) Program. Vicki’s teachings were just the beginning, as she prepared her students for the next phase as they moved into Dale’s band program. Together, her and Dale, were an incredible team, teaching and sharing music with thousands of children over the years.

Family and friends were extremely important to Vicki. She was the ultimate hostess; enjoying every opportunity to bring people together to enjoy new recipes and share in her homemade wines. She was the biggest cheerleader for her children, providing endless support through school, sports, and ultimately, life. She found her true calling when she became a grandmother and would spend countless hours entertaining her grandkids with her seemingly endless supply of energy.

Vicki was predeceased by her mother, Marjorie Germann, her father, Francis Germann, her sister, Regina Germann and her brothers, Leo Germann and Vince Germann. Left to mourn are her loving husband of 48 years, Dale, son Chris (Amanda), daughter Melissa (Wade), grandchildren Logan and Branson, her 6 siblings and many nieces and nephews.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Vicky. We grew up and went to school together in Wilcox. She would often spend summertime weeks with me at the O'Byrne farm. She was a great worker who looked after many household chores that were required in her large family. We always had fun playing baseball and riding our bikes - free as the summer breeze!
My condolences to Dale and her family. Her life was cut too short and the world will miss her.

My deep sympathy to Dale and family for the passing of Vicky. Although I went to school with her brother Leo, in a small town, everyone was a friend. Vicky's father was one of my favorite teachers. He and my mother grew up together. I remember my mother telling me that Frank (Vicky's father) had a lovely voice and would visit my grandmother to sing "Ave Maria" to her as she was dying in the 1940's. Vicky taught me to swim, or at least worked hard to get me through the various swimming levels. I was not the best student! I was also one of Vicky's bridesmaids. Vicky was always a hard worker. I have often thought of her and hoped that she had a good life with Dale and family. She is in my prayers. Linda Daly

I was extremely sad to learn that Vicky (used to be a y) passed away. I grew up in Wilcox and was in the same grade as Vicky. She was a good friend. I was also buddies with Leo & Vince. Sincere condolences, She was too young to pass. Though I haven't seen her in 50 years I am saddened. Stay strong Dale.

We were saddened to hear of Vicki’s sudden passing. Our children got a fantastic beginning to piano and music through her dedicated instruction! We really appreciated getting to know her through our many years of sitting and learning on the floor of her studio, smelling her delicious stews cooking, or seeing her sewing projects layed out on her kitchen island as we came and went. So grateful to have known someone like Vicki.
