Obituary for Rhonda O'Brien (Dodd)
Rhonda Dodd was born on July 2, 1966 in Lafleche, SK to Armand and Dianne Dodd. She was the youngest of 3 daughters. Her sisters Karla and Patricia were her best friends.
Rhonda grew up in Glentworth, SK until April of 1972, until the Dodd family moved to Pleasantdale, SK. Growing up Rhonda was always known for her spit-fire attitude but ultimately “the look” you’d get when she disagreed. Mom grew up doing 4H, curling, even traveling to Thunder Bay, ON in a 4-H exchange program, where she met lifelong friend Jo.
Rhonda found the love of her life Brent in 1987. They later married August 27, 1988; calling Pleasantdale, SK - home. Together they ventured into taking over the O’Brien family farm; raising cattle, haying and small acre seeding. Soon after, they welcomed their first child Kendra in 1989. And another daughter Shelby in 1992. And yet another daughter Kelsey in 1995. Together they were content as a family of 5.
Mom held many jobs over the years. Rhonda attended Dental Hygienist School in Saskatoon, SK at The Kelsey Institute. Mom thought she had found her dream job, though realizing shortly after finishing that she herself was scared of the dentist. Years later, moving into becoming an educational assistant at Maude Burke Elementary. Mom loved her job, her students, but overall, her work family. There was never a moment when she didn't have a funny story about something at school.
Mom’s great achievement in life was when she was given the promotion from Mother to Grandmother. She loved her grandbabies fiercely. The day each new child entered the world, you could see her at her happiest and her heart overflowing with love. We are so blessed and fortunate that the newest baby, a sweet girl, decided to arrive 4 weeks early, just in time for Grandma Rhonda to meet her and give her several snuggles and kisses.
Rhonda will be sadly missed though loving remembered by her Husband: Brent O’Brien; her pets Baby and Millie; Her Daughters: Kendra (Chad) Vanderbyl and their family Parker, Hudson, and Boedy; Shelby (Brandon) Sloan, Lochlan and Stevie; Kelsey O’Brien; Her Sisters: Karla (Roy) Williams; Patricia (Ken) Gausman; Sister-in-law: Debbie (Kevin) Schick; Brothers-in-law: Johnny (Shea) O’Brien; James O’Brien; and many more nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rhonda was predeceased by her parents Armand and Dianne Dodd; Grand parents: Earl and Myrtle Dagenais; Cecil and Marg Dodd; In-laws Clifford and Lillian O’Brien; and nephew Mason O’Brien.
