Obituary for Neil Sigurd Betterton

Neil Sigurd Betterton passed away suddenly on August 2, 2021 at Chateau Providence Care Home in St. Brieux at the age of 64. Neil was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan on April 21, 1957 to Eldon and Hazel (Lindskog) Betterton. Neil was the youngest of four children - older brothers being Lynn and Brian and his older sister Sharon. He moved with his family for a short time to the Fairy Glen area then into Melfort where Neil spent most of his adolescence. In his late teens, Neil moved to Calgary where he obtained a job working alongside his older brother Lynn in the sheet metal industry. Neil then moved to Winnipeg where he worked in the drywall trade.

Neil enjoyed watching sports on TV. He was an avid fan of the NFL - Oakland Raiders being his team and the NHL - with Boston Bruins being his favourite.
Neil loved to have arguments with other relatives as to whose team was THE BEST!!!

After health issues arose, Neil became a resident at Chateau. Here he gained a reputation of “kibitzing” with the staff. Neil took great pride in the family bulletin board that hung in his room. He always made a point of letting staff and visitors know “who was who” in the pictures.

Neil is survived by: his sister-in-law Elaine Betterton of Calgary, AB; his sister Sharon Elmy (Harvey) of Esterhazy, SK and his brother Brian (Cheryl) of Melfort, SK, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

A private family service will take place on August 28, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chateau Providence Care Home Auxiliary.

Memorial donations may be made in Neil's name directly to:
