J. Marshall Howell, 65, of Melfort, Sk passed away peacefully at home, on March 7th, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones after a hard-fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Marshall was born on May 8, 1955 to Roy and Marjorie Howell in Eldorado, Sk. He grew up in Uranium City, Sk at the height of the Uranium boom, fishing, boating, biking, skidooing, and otherwise enjoying the beauty of Northern Saskatchewan. After the closure of Uranium City, Marshall moved south to complete his Journeyman’s certificate as a Heavy-Duty mechanic, eventually returning north to La Ronge, where he lived until retirement.

Marshall was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His desire to help extended to his friends and neighbours, and he was always the first on the scene when any help was required, from fixing a sink to building a house.

As Marshall neared retirement, he combined his love of the outdoors and construction into a new passion for boat building. His happiest hours were spent on the lake, testing out his newest creation, and planning the next one.

Marshall was predeceased by his parents: Roy and Marjorie; brothers: Kim, Glenn, John and Al: nephew Jason, and father-in-law Chris.

He is survived by his wife Maureen; children: Kathleen and Roy (Dawn); grandchildren: Alexis and Rowan; siblings Lynn (Wally) and Brian (Christie) and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, Marshall requested that donations be sent to the North Central Health Care Foundation, Melfort Hospital “Melfort Hospital Equipment” (PO Box 1480, Melfort, SK S0E 1A0).
