Lillian grew up on the farm in the Rhein District, attending Wallace School and completing her Highschool by correspondence, following which she graduated from the Queen Victoria School of Nursing in Yorkton Saskatchewan. For several years she worked on maternity wards and in Operating Rooms in communities across Western Canada. In time she made the decision to move home to Saskatchewan and shifted her interest to public health. After gaining experience in the Yorkton area, she returned to school, entering the University of Saskatchewan where she acquired her Certificate in Public Health. Certificate in hand, she brought her new skills to the communities of Wadena and Humboldt for a total of 8 years and in 1968 was promoted to Regional Manager in Melfort, retiring in 1984.

Lillian was a dedicated Nurse, a wonderful gardener, an incredible cook, an independent woman who purchased and decorated her home with charm and character. As a young woman she hit the road in an Olds Cutlass and designer-clothes. As a 96-year-old she stepped out in a little black scooter, often packed with so many groceries from the Melfort Co-op her friend Doug would be called on to rescue her. Severely independent, her most likely response to a suggestion she do a particular thing was “I’m thinking about it”. Her interest in politics and the state of the world remained even as she aged. Even as day to day activities became more difficult, she maintained from a distance her love for and interest in every adult and child on the family tree. “We love you and miss you, Auntie. May you rest in peace.”

A Private Family Service was held.
