Obituary for Judith Diane "Judy" Roy (Hetland)

With great sorrow we announce the untimely passing of Judy Diane Roy (nee. Hetland). Judy passed away on October 3, 2019, at the age of 63.
Judy was born in Spalding Saskatchewan October 20, 1955. She was born to Ruth and Orville Hetland, the youngest of five children. Judy grew up in Spalding and loved spending time outdoors as well as making crafts and gifts for the people in her life, she was exceedingly creative. Judy moved to Saskatoon to attend the U of S in the fall of 1973 to complete her Home Economics and Education degree. Once completing her degree she accepted many different teaching positions in Canwood, Bigger, Leader, and lastly in Marengo. When teaching in Leader Judy met Laurence Roy, they dated a few years and married May 19, 1984. After marrying, Judy and Laurence moved to Flaxcombe Saskatchewan and started building their future home. Judy was teaching in Marengo Saskatchewan when they had their two children Katrina Roy and Rebecca Loroff (nee Roy). After having Rebecca in 1987 Judy was diagnosed with MS and had to leave work. Judy fought her MS for 32 years and always kept a positive attitude.
In 1997 Judy and Laurence moved their family to Melfort to hope for better care for Judy’s MS and to be closer to family. In 2013 Laurence retired and they purchased a motorhome and converted it to be wheelchair accessible, they had many amazing summers camping and traveling. Judy made an impact in everyone’s life she entered, she had a strong spark and was always stubborn in everything she did. In 2008 Judy became a grandmother for the first time, Illiana Hope Roy (Katrina Roy) was born. In 2013 Emily Taylor Loroff (Becky Loroff) was born and in 2017 Madison Hayley Loroff (Becky Loroff) was born. Judy loved her granddaughters, and lived for family gatherings.
Judy is survived by her loving caregiver husband Laurence Roy, her two daughters Katrina Roy and Becky Loroff (Jon Loroff), her granddaughters Illiana Roy, Emily and Madison Loroff. Judy is also survived by her siblings Eleanor Leicht, Darlene Eberle (David), Faith Mazurek (Frank), and Dale Hetland (Cathy).
Judy is predeceased by her parents Ruth and Orville Hetland and her brother-in-law Ray Leicht.
