Obituary for Joseph Gerald Dunn

Joe was born in Spalding, SK to Donald and Mary Dunn the oldest of nine children, three boys and six girls; Joseph, Linda, Marilyn, Margret, Theresa, Fredrick, Edwin, Violet, Christine and Lisa, a special niece who was in our lives as a sister.
Joe lived his young years in Pleasantdale and Melfort. Joe went to school till grade ten. He then set off to explore the work world. He worked for Heron Well Drilling of Melfort. He also left Saskatchewan to explore employment out of Province.
Joe led an adventurous life, many things we don’t know. Joe had his struggles.
Joe met his wife Shannon Heidt and married in 1983. Two sons of a previous marriage, Kevin and Daryl, became his stepsons whom he loved. They resided in Prince Albert where both Joe and Shannon worked at Victoria Hospital. Sadly, the union didn’t last.
Joe returned to Melfort where he was employed at various places including Parkland Hospital, Agri Builders, Kinistin Reserve, and self-employment.
Joe struggled with many demons then found AA and had 30 plus years of sobriety.
At the time of his passing, he resided at Caskey Place in Melfort. His health overtook him. He will be missed.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Donald and Mary, sister Linda, and brother Fredrick (Donald).
He is survived by siblings, Marilyn (Rory), Margret, Theresa (Terry), Edwin (Joe), Violet (Phil), Christine (Greg), and Lisa (Tim). Joe is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Cory, Belinda, Theresa, Christopher, Jamie, Robert, Richard, Russell, Michelle, Amanda, Michael, Maddy, Liam, Jazlin, and Jessica and their spouses and children. He is also survived by his special friends Ted and Aggie Magis, and Doug and Linda Watts.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 26, 2019 at the Melfort Ag Hall on the exhibition grounds from 1 to 5 PM. Come and go. Everyone welcome.
