Obituary for Jens Martin Sorensen

Jens was born in Fjellerad, Denmark on March 12, 1933, to parents Niels and Karen Sorensen. He grew up farming and joined the Danish army in 1953.
In 1955 he moved to Canada to join his brother Soren. He worked at various jobs, but mostly as a power lineman. One thing he enjoyed as a young man was getting his small aircraft pilot’s license and flying whenever he could.
He met the love of his life; Ann Johnson in Fort Macleod, AB in August 1964 and they were married in December. Their son Larry was born in November 1965 in Williams Lake, BC.
Jens and Ann moved to Pincher Creek, AB where they owned and operated a convenience store and later a children’s clothing store. Jens obtained his realtor’s license and sold real estate for a short time. Michele was born in Pincher in October 1969.
1973 saw him moving his family to Pleasantdale where they purchased a farm. Pamela was born there in February 1974.
Jens retired in 1995 and they moved into Pleasantdale. He was very involved in the community, serving on the Community Association, United Church Board, Co-op Board, local school board and the Senior Citizens Group.
Jens enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends and neighbours, and later in life, golfing. His greatest love was spending time with his family. Jens and Ann moved to Melfort in 2014 where they continued to enjoy a busy lifestyle.
Jens is predeceased by his parents Niels and Karen Sorensen, an infant brother and sister, brothers: Karl, Aage, Soren, and Anton; sisters-in-law: Anne Marie (aka Sister), Oda, Liz and brother-in-law Svend.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife Ann, children: Larry (Kim), Michele (Darren), Pamela (Kevin); grandchildren: Stephanie (Mitch), Jenna, Kaiden, Brayden; great granddaughter Alice; great grandson Jack, sister Ellen; sister-in-law Helen and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Denmark.
