Obituary for James Andrew Monkman

We are saddened to announce that on Sunday, December 27, 2020, James Andrew Monkman passed away at the age of 88 years.
James was born in High River, Alberta on June 28,1932 to Lloyd and Anna Monkman. Jim was the first of two children born and raised in High River, Alberta.
  Jim loved working with people and his career as an auditor for MacLeods took him throughout all of Western Canada and was a store manager in Winnipeg, Calgary, Weyburn and Melfort. Jim was also an accomplished Beekeeper and raised Honey Bees. Jim really enjoyed his career working with the public and the staff at Canada Post in Melfort.
Jim met Mary in Winnipeg, the love of his life in 1959 and married on July 29, 1961 and was blessed with two children; Kathy and Greg. Jim retired from Canada Post in 1997.
Jim was a wonderful father and enjoyed travelling across Canada and the USA. Jim and Mary enjoyed trips and cruises to Europe, Hawaii and Mexico. Jim loved music, especially the  50's, Big Band and Jazz Music, Jim was a sports fan and enjoyed Hockey, Boxing, Football, Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Gardening, Fishing, Cars, the Outdoors, and having coffee and conversation with anyone. Jim especially loved growing up in the foothills and mountains of Alberta, fly fishing on the Highwood River, Duck Hunting and Camping at Kananaskis.
Jim is survived by his children Greg Monkman and Kathy (Mike) Cubrilo; grandsons: Jeff, Ryan and Tyler; brothers-in-law: Pepe, Ed and Merv, sister-in-law: Lil, Katherine, Pat; nieces:  Anna-Maria, Pat, Andrea, Kristen, Leanne, Janice, Laurie, Marjorie, and Janet and nephews: Robert, Allan, Brian, Merv, John, Brian, Bruce, Craig, Grant, and John.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Anna, Wife: Mary, Sister: Millie, and numerous uncles and aunts.
And now deeply saddened, we have to say goodbye to a devoted and caring husband, loving father, grandfather and loyal friend.
   The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Strydom, Dr. Hanekom and Parkland Place for the excellent care over the years.
