Obituary for Gwenn Elma Thorpe

Born January 4, 1928 in LacVert Saskatchewan. Passed away peacefully on August 27, 2022 at Nirvana Assisted Living in Melfort.

Gwenn was the second born child and only daughter of Vern and Ida Thorpe.

Gwenn graduated in 1951 with a nursing degree from Regina General Hospital Nursing School.

She was a nurse at Spaulding Union Hospital from 1951 until 1954 when she moved to BC with her parents and youngest brother Rodney.

She continued her nursing career first at Vancouver General Hospital from 1954 to 1963 then Prince Rupert General Hospital from 1964 to 1966 then becoming a Private Duty nurse from 1967 until her retirement in 1989.

In between her nursing career Gwenn took an around the world trip having many adventures and good stories to tell when she came home.

Upon retirement Gwenn returned to Saskatchewan moving to Melfort to care for and support her parents and her Aunts.

Gwenn loved a good game of cards or chess.

She was a very charitable woman and along with her mission circle friends packed many Christmas shoe boxes.

Gwenn was kind and always thinking of others.

Gwenn was predeceased by her parents Vern and Ida Thorpe, her brothers Glenn and wives Eileen and Helen, Harold, Ron and Rodney Thorpe and nephew Mark Thorpe.

She will be lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law Elaine Thorpe, Delores Thorpe, Bev Kirkland as well as her cousins, nieces & nephews and good friends.
