Obituary for Grace Vera Trent (Woolsey)

Grace Trent, 95 years of age, passed on June 14, 2022 at Kinistino Jubilee Lodge where she resided since January.
Grace was born December 24, 1926 in Melfort to George and Alfa Woolsey. At a very early age, Grace and her older brother Ebert, were taken in by Ed and Mary Herod in Pleasant Valley. They became Grace’s true parents and she was loved like a daughter. She was raised on her aunt and uncle’s dairy farm and had the benefit of many years of piano lessons, church and community activities. Grace got her education at Flett Springs School. She would discover later that she had three older brothers: Louis, Arnold and Leonard.
Grace married Gerald Trent, the love of her life, on July 3,1946. From this union 3 children: Bernard, daughter Dayle and Fred were born. They resided on the Trent family farm in Pathlow until moving into Melfort in 1958.Their home like all their others was filled with family, friends, love and laughter.
Grace professed her life to Christ at an early age.Grace served as the organist for the Anglican Church for many years. Grace loved the church work, served on several committees and always enjoyed helping others. During these years she served as a leader of Girl Guides, 4H and was involved in ACW wherever she lived. She also belonged to Rebecca Lodge in Rosetown where they moved in 1968.
Grace and Gerry owned and operated Trent Flooring with their sons in Rosetown. Rosetown was home until Grace eventually moved back to Melfort and Diefenbaker Tower following the deaths of Gerry and son, Bernard. Diefenbaker Tower had primarily been home for over a decade. Grace made good friends wherever she lived.
Grace loved to read her bible, praying for and with her family and friends, laughing and aways a smile on her face with kind words. Music was everything to her and could even play by ear. She had a terrific sense of humor. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife to Gerry who was the love of her life, a great mother, always thinking of others. “To know her was to love her”. Grace believed that there was good in everyone.
Grace leaves to cherish her loving memory, her children, Dayle and Garry Drury, Fred and Linda: 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also, Grace’s maternal family came to be a large and loved part of Grace’s life in later years especially after coming to know of older brothers, aunts and uncles. It was a very enriching time of her life when she came to know the Vold families.
Grace maintained strong faith and was an inspiration after reduction of her mobility, sight and hearing in the last year of her life. It is a true blessing that she is now free of all the pain and confusion she came to endure this past while. She felt blessed to have the medical care she was given and would want all the Jubilee Lodge staff to know how thankful she was for their help through such a painful time. She will be really missed by many.
