Gordon Howard Liddle of Melfort, SK, formerly of Weyburn, passed away on September 30, 2019.  Gordon was born on October 10, 1932 on a farm in the Colgate area south of Weyburn.  He was predeceased by his wife Beatrice, father Howard, mother Elizabeth, brothers Jack and Arthur, sister Margaret, brother-in-law Stanley Miller and sister-in-law Nellie.  Gordon is survived by his daughter Brita (Jerry) Heffernan of Melfort and four grandsons who were very special to him:  Tanner, Brayden, Reece and Ethan. He is survived by his sister-in-law Sheila and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
  Gordon took all his schooling in the Weyburn area.  He attended Moose Jaw Teachers College and subsequently the University of Saskatchewan where he earned a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Diploma in Educational Administration.  He taught in Weyburn for 35 years – the last 22 years at the Weyburn Junior High School; 16 years as vice-principal and the last 6 years as principal, retiring in 1988.
  Gordon was active in the Weyburn community, teachers’ organizations, Knox Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club of Weyburn and a working member of the committee that laid the groundwork for the development of Tatagwa Parkway.
  Gordon married Beatrice Beaton on March 31, 1961 and “Brita” the joy of their lives arrived October 31, 1966.  In 1998 Bea was diagnosed with Alzheimers.  In 2002 Gordon and Bea moved to Melfort in order to be near family (Brita). In June 2002 Bea went into Parkland Place and on June 8, 2005 passed away.  By this time Gordon had become an active member of the Melfort community; St. James Presbyterian Church, the Rotary Club of Melfort, seniors’ curling and an active participant in the planning and development of the Melfort Memorial Garden.
We are blessed to have had Gordon as a part of our lives and he will go on living in our hearts.
