Obituary for Garry Llewellyn Smith

Garry Llewellyn Smith was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on June 17, 1947. His first home was a small one near his paternal grandparents’ house. A few years later, the small home was moved to the next quarter west, and more rooms were added onto it.

Garry began his education in a one-room country school taught by one teacher. This was White Poplar School. By grade 8, he and the other White Poplar students were bussed into the town of Hudson Bay. He graduated from high school in 1965. At the University of Saskatchewan, he took two years of engineering. The desire to be working the soil and to work with cattle overpowered the want to continue with university. For the remainder of his working life, he farmed—planting and harvesting crops and raising cattle.

Garry was predeceased by his father in 1996 and by his mother in 2018. He is survived by his younger brother Wayne and numerous cousins.
