My name is brad Torwalt and I worked with Fredrick At bourgault industries while I was in st breuix for a number of years and he was always the most positive guy I have met, i remember working with him and how safety was so important to him not just day in and day out but to be wear protective gear when you needed too, i was a young guy just making my way in the world and he really made me think of being safe for the long term and I have to credit him being one of the many who encouraged me to look after myself while working with chemicals, dusty environments, and just thinking before doing. The many talks I had with him they were always pleasant, he was a hard worker and always enjoyed being in his company. My condolences to his family and friends in this time! Time will never heal the wounds but sharing memories and reflecting on his life helps even if it’s for just a moment!

Frederick was my neighbour for the last 3 years of his life. His heath condition had recently returned and was on work compensation. Frederick was from the Philippines and had been in Canada already for some years before coming to work at Bourgault Industries. Frederick and I had 2 things in common, we were both mechanical engineers and both with cancer.
So we had lots to talk about. I remember one day a couple of years ago... I was a little bit down about my future and he talked me into being more hopeful and his encouragement cheered me up somewhat. Then later that evening it came to me that his situation was more grave than mine because I was near 70 with one son who had been on his own for some 20 years while he was only 42 married and father of 2 young girls and he was the main provider. Well that struck me so a few days later I asked him if he was not stressed out about his condition and family future. His response to me was "Yes I am but I don't want to stress them so I try to go on as normal and positive as I can for them". So it was genuine because he worked the garden, made a water system, mowed my lawn, snow blow my driveway, bought a used quad and fixed it, did mechanical repairs on some of his friends cars, went hunting and fishing. He was a wonderful neighbour and will miss him and our talks. His little girls are so sweet. I have nothing but good to say about Frederick and his family.
