Obituary

Elsie Margaret Wickiam passed away at the age of 92 on December 24, 2019 in Parkland Place, Melfort, SK.

Elsie was born on August 24, 1927 in Williamstown, ON to the late Arthur and Irene Gordon. She met the love of her life, John Wickiam, while working in Toronto and they were married in 1946. Elsie and John were blessed with one daughter, Sheron Veronica, whom they shared a love for camping and fishing. Elsie and “Faddie” John spent 20 years in retirement between Florida, Ontario and following Sheron's family across Canada. There are many memories of vacations in the motor home, singing to 8 track tapes and trips to DisneyWorld. John sadly passed away in 1996, four days after their 50th wedding anniversary.

Elsie “Grama GIGI” made Melfort, SK her home for the past 15 years and really enjoyed family time, watching great grandchildren's activities, the Seniors Centre, bingo and cribbage. Transitioning from her home last year to the Chateau in St Brieux and finally to Parkland were made easier by the amazing staff and frequent family visits.

Elsie is survived by her daughter Sheron (Dick Burgis), 3 granddaughters: Kimberly (Todd Siwak), Lisa (Balfour Der), & Kristina (Andy Sillito); and 6 great-grandchildren: Payton & Camryn, Maxwell & Rachel, and Brianna & Zachery; several sisters and one brother. She will be dearly missed.

Donations in honor of Elsie Wickiam may be made to the North Central Health Care Foundation Inc., PO Box 1480, Melfort, SK S0E 1A0.
