Donnie farmed with his father and brother at Spalding during his life of being single, later buying land three miles west of Pleasantdale when he and Gail married. Donnie was a community man, sitting on several sub committees of the Pleasantdale Community Association throughout his fifty years of living there. He also sat on other committees such as the Tiger Lily School Board, the Wheat Pool, the Naicam/Pleasantdale Co-op Board, the Pleasantdale Minor Sports, and the Meyer’s Lake Rec Board. Once moving to Melfort he and Gail became part of the Melfort Seniors Group.
Music was a constant factor in Donnie’s life, be it playing for wedding dances, New Year’s Eve dances, homecomings, family reunions or practice sessions in basements and later playing for those in the Nursing Homes and Senior Complexes in Melfort and the surrounding area.
