Obituary for David John Long

DUE TO THE WESTJET STRIKE AND UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, DAVID'S CELEBRATION OF LIFE MEMORIAL TEA HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO A FUTURE DATE WHICH WILL BE ANNOUNCED.

David John Long passed away January 30, 2023 at the age of 94 in Melfort, Saskatchewan. Dave was born December 10, 1928 in Davidson, Saskatchewan and grew up in Nipawin, SK.

In 1948 Dave moved to Choiceland, SK where he opened a John Deere dealership, got married and began his family. Dave and his family moved to Melfort in 1967, and he resided there until his passing.

Dave is predeceased by his parents Matthew and Jane (Kingston) Long; an infant brother Patrick Anthony in Ireland; sister Mary Buckley and her husband Patrick of Ireland; brother Matthew Long and sister-in-law Mildred; brother Walter Long and sister-in-law Virginia.

Dave is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma (Eckdahl) Long; son Lindsay Long and daughter-in-law Hali and their children Delaney and Matthew; son Patrick Long and daughter-in-law Sheila and their children Shelby and Nolan: daughter Maureen Long and son-in-law Grant Lyon and their daughter Jane.

Dave is also survived by his brother Hugh Long and sister-in-law Dona and family and by brother Earl Long and sister-in-law Dorothy and family. He is also survived by the families of his brothers Matt and Walter, and many other relatives, friends, and customers.
