Chris was born in Whitewood, SK to Marilyn and Bill Maki. He grew up on a farm located above the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley, near Tantallon.

He attended elementary school in Tantallon and completed high school in Esterhazy. After graduating he became a snowboard instructor at Asessippi Ski Resort in Manitoba. Later he attended a Travel and Tourism program in Medicine Hat, AB. Upon returning to Tantallon, he worked as a farmhand and then worked in Grand Cache, AB on pipeline construction.

At the age of 22 he met Candice and married her in 2008 in the Dominican Republic. Having finished a welding program at N.A.I.T, the couple settled in Star City to be closer to family.

Chris was employed as journeyman welder for W.S.I. Construction.

Baby Phoenix came to them on July 3, 2012. As Phoenix grew, Chris spent much time with his son patiently sharing his knowledge of dirt bikes, snowmobiles, snowboarding, home improvement and organizational skills. He was very proud of his son’s talents and abilities.

As a loyal husband and father, Chris was very attentive to his family’s needs, and they never doubted his endless love for them.

His memory will be forever cherished by: his wife Candice; son Phoenix; parents: Marilyn, Bill (Maurine); brothers: Blair (Tara), Jesse (Alissa) and sister Shelby (Pratik).

He will be remembered by his large extended family as well as many friends who were touched by his life.
