Obituary for Caroline Margaret Godson (Kolb)

Caroline Margaret Godson (nee Kolb), age 89, passed away peacefully Monday, November 7, 2022 in St. Brieux, SK.
Born on a farm near Star City, August 22, 1933, she was the daughter of Frank and Emma Kolb. From an early age Caroline was a hard worker, helping at home and looking after her younger brothers and sister. She attended Excelsior School.
On July 16, 1952, she married the love of her life Tommy Godson. They remained happily married until Tommy’s passing on March 11, 1985. For the first few years Tommy and Caroline had a small farm. They decided to move to Melfort in 1958. It was at this time that Caroline started her almost 40-year career at Parkland Regional Care Center. There, she started off working in the kitchen as a helper and advanced to Journeyman Cook. After a few years, she decided a change was needed and became the seamstress. She often spoke fondly about her time at Parkland and the friends she made there.
Caroline was an active community member, joining many organizations, helping out in various ways, selling tickets, donating her knitting, baked goods and more. She was well known for her Black Forest cakes, which everyone enjoyed.
She loved socializing with friends and family. Whether it was playing cards, going to parties or attending local events, as long as she could see the people she held dear, it was all good.
In 2000 her grandson Liam arrived, followed by granddaughter Olivia in 2004. She was thrilled to be a grandmother. And she was a wonderful grandma. Always letting the kids know how much she loved them and proud she was of them.
Caroline is survived by her son Bruce (Karen) and grandchildren Liam and Olivia. She is also survived by sister Linda (Dennis) Schmitz; brothers Robert Kolb, Gordon (Shirley) Kolb and Ron (Jean) Kolb. Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law Rita Kolb, Cherry Kolb, Frances Gibbons and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her beloved Tommy, she was predeceased by her siblings Mary Ann (infancy), Lorne, Frankie, David, and Albert.
In May of this year, due to declining health, she moved to St. Brieux, after living in Olds, AB for 14 years.
The family would like to acknowledge Chateau Providence for their exceptional care. Caroline was so happy there.
Rest in Peace Mom, we will miss you.
