In Loving Memory
Blanche Joyce Aasen was born to Albert and Alice Aasen on February 27, 1928 on the farm in the Bagley area. She went to school at Dover and Fairy Glen, graduating from Saskatchewan Lutheran Bible Institute. She went to Normal School in Saskatoon, then proceeded to teach at Petaigan (north of Carrot River), McKintosh Lake (by Middle Lake) and Queen Maude (north of Weldon).
On October 18, 1950 she married Alex Shmyr, from this union 1 daughter and 4 sons were born. Blanche and Alex enjoyed travelling and fishing together. Alex would get a bit upset because Blanche would usually catch more fish than he did. Every year Blanche would put in a big garden, she was a great cook and was always trying new recipes. Everyone was always welcome to drop in at any time.

Blanche was predeceased by her husband Alex, her in-laws Nick and Alexandra Shmyr, her parents Albert and Alice Aasen, her sister and brother-in-law Edna (Grant) Hope, her son-in-law Chris Vataman and infant great grandson Keagen Abbott.
She is survived by her daughter Lexie Vataman, her sons Vance (Darlene), Dean (Joanne), Kerry (Jackie), Trevor (Pam); 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; her brother Les (Marion) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
