Obituary for Beryl Rogers (Kilgour)
Beryl Rogers passed away peacefully at Melfort Union Hospital on Tuesday February 4, 2020 from her fight with cancer. She was born to Kenneth and Mary Kilgour (one of 6 girls) on June 8, 1943 at the Melfort Hospital. She grew up on the family’s farm at Meskanaw. She attended the Meskanaw school throughout most of her schooling and graduated from the Yellow Creek school.
After highschool she moved to the city and took her nursing training. She worked for a short while in Saskatoon prior to moving to Melfort. She adored all her years working, both in the caring for the patients and building relationships with her co-workers.
Between the clinic and the hospital she worked for more than 40 years.
Beryl married her partner Ernie Rogers on July 17th, 1964. The two raised their family of three children Kevin, Karen, and Kent on the farm in the Flett Springs area. She took great pride along with Ernie developing the family farm.
She was an unbelievable loving grandma with a compassionate heart and generosity. Her door was always open – literally. You could just walk in knowing you were always welcome. Enjoy her hospitality with coffee always on. She was truly selfless and loved to focus on others especially her grandchildren.
Many children were kept warm with her knitted sweaters as she travelled to craft sales throughout Saskatchewan. She loved to travel and took many enjoyable trips over the years with both family and friends. Her most recent trip was an “adventure” through the Qu’Appelle Valley with her granddaughters.
She enjoyed watching curling as she worked on a puzzle as no puzzle was too hard (the bears are yet to be finished), sitting in her chair or on the deck enjoying the yard, and her casino trips with friends. Beryl was always available to take a phone call - just checking in, walking to class, driving home after a long day or catching up with family & friends.
She will be sadly missed by her family Kevin, Karen (Warren) – Wyatt (Bethany), Dustin (Jenna) - Aubrey, Kayla and Kent (Richelle) – Kody and Kenzie-Rae and numerous other family members.
