Obituary for Anne Ogren (Zuk)

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a beloved mother, grandmother and great –grandmother, Anne Ogren of Melfort. She passed away at Parkland Place on February 26, 2020.
Anne, the first child of Kasian and Tekla Zuk, was born on March 9th, 1924 in the Ukraine. She came to Canada with her parents to the Gronlid area in 1930. They farmed in the area and she attended Taelman School, Gronlid School and completed her grade 12 at Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon. She then attended Teachers’ College in Moose Jaw. She taught school in Pontrilas followed by Pine Torch School in 1943 and 1944. This is where she met Henry. They were married in July 1946.
In 1947 they moved to Hamilton, Ontario where Anne continued to teach school and Henry worked at the International Harvester Plant. In 1949, the prairies lured them back to Gronlid where in 1950 they began farming one mile east of Gronlid and began raising a family.
In 1957, they moved into Gronlid where they operated a general store and SGI insurance agency. They continued farming and the insurance business after the store was sold in 1977.
Henry and Anne retired in 1998 and rented their land. In 2002 Henry and Anne moved to Melfort where Anne continued to reside after Henry’s passing in July, 2004. In January of 2006, Anne moved to Parkland Place where she resided until her passing. She remained keenly interested and involved with her family to the end, always offering advice and counsel.
